Tea Tree oil is an essential oil obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of the Melaleuca Alternifolia plant, a plant native to Australia. These leaves have been used over the centuries by Aborigines, who traditionally rub them into the skin to prevent infection. They can effectively relieve and treat burns and other skin diseases, disinfect skin abrasions and promote faster healing of bites and cuts. Tea Tree oil is an essential oil characterised by a fresh smell of Camphor, it is an oil rich in active ingredients, there are at least 48 known elements, two of which are present in significant quantities: Terpinene-4-ol and 1,8-Cineole. The former is mainly responsible for the oil's healing potential, while cineole provides its antiseptic properties. Although both are natural antiseptics with bactericidal and antifungal properties, cineole can be irritating to the mucous membranes, which is why its concentration in Dr. Organic's Tea Tree products does not exceed 5%. Several studies confirm that Tea Tree oil can be effective in inhibiting a wide range of organisms.
