Glucomannan, also known as konjac, is a polysaccharide obtained from the root of Amorphophallus konjac, a plant native to southwestern China. In contact with water, glucomannan can increase its volume up to 60-80 times, relaxing the walls of the stomach and thus causing a sense of satiety. This characteristic causes the absorption of carbohydrates and lipids at the intestinal level to be reduced; for this reason konjac proves useful in regimes aimed at reducing weight. Due to these characteristics, EFSA has authorized the indications according to which: – glucomannan contributes to weight loss in the case of foods/supplements that contain 1 gram per portion, providing the consumer with the information that the beneficial effects can be obtained with a daily intake of 3 g in 3 doses of 1 g, before meals and in the context of a low-calorie diet; – Glucomannan contributes to maintaining normal blood cholesterol levels, with a daily intake of 4 g. HOW TO USE: Take 2 capsules before each meal, for a total of 6 capsules (corresponding to 3 g of glucomannan) per day, with plenty of water, so that it can reach the stomach.
